Meet Marciano Coustaut-Brown: The Young Artist Turning Passion Into Possibility

At just 17 years old, Marciano—also known as Marci, Mango, and a few other names—is already taking serious steps toward building a future in the art world.
For Marciano, art isn't just something to do in his spare time. It's a passion he's been developing since he was around 10 or 11 years old, when he first began thinking about taking his creativity seriously.
Now, the self-taught artist is putting his skills to work and opening the door for people who want to bring their own ideas to life through art commissions.

A Self-Taught Artist With Big Goals

Marciano describes himself as a self-taught artist, continuing to develop his skills through practice, schoolwork, and studying the work of artists who inspire him.
Among the artists who have influenced his creative journey are Mike Strong, Andrew Rende, and eli_9un_. Their work has helped inspire Marciano as he continues developing his own artistic style and figuring out where his creativity can take him.
And he's not thinking small.
His long-term goal is to become a professional concept character artist, comic book artist, or potentially both. With an interest in character design and visual storytelling, Marciano is working toward a future where his artwork can become more than a hobby—it can become a career.

From Classroom Assignments to Commissions

Like many young artists, Marciano's everyday life includes balancing school with his creative ambitions. These days, some of his time is spent working on AP Art assignments, giving him an opportunity to continue practicing while completing his education.
But outside of the classroom, he's also interested in connecting with people who are looking for artwork.
Marciano currently offers art commissions online, making it possible for potential clients to reach out and discuss their ideas with him.
Whether you're looking to support an emerging artist or have a creative concept you'd like brought to life, commissioning a young artist can also give them valuable experience as they build their portfolio and develop their professional skills.

His Advice to Other Artists

If there's one message Marciano wants other aspiring artists to hear, it's simple:
Keep creating.
His advice is to continue putting artwork out into the world regardless of how you feel about your current skill level. He also emphasizes the importance of practicing fundamentals, particularly shapes and anatomy.
For a young artist working toward a professional career, that mindset could prove valuable: improvement comes from consistently practicing, experimenting, learning, and continuing to create.

What's Next for Marciano?

At 17, Marciano is still at the beginning of his artistic journey—but that's exactly what makes his story interesting.
He's already identified the direction he wants to explore, from concept character design to comic books, while continuing to sharpen his skills and build experience through commissions.
The next few years could be an important period for him as he develops his portfolio, discovers his signature style, and turns his childhood passion into a potential career.
For now, he's taking it one drawing at a time.
